What do we do?
We support networked coordination and activities for the week-long Enviro Week event in March each year, in which local actors from all sectors across the greater eThekwini Municipal area, run all kinds of educational, clean up and fun activities that showcase organisations.
How do we do this?
Green Corridors collaborates with numerous municipal departments including Parks, Cleansing and Solid Waste, Water and Sanitation and also the provincial Department of Basic Education and EDTEA to run programmes in schools, clean up and other environmental calendar events.
We also provides support for the establishment and strengthening of the eThekwini Environmental Education And Public Awareness Network (EEPAN), with funding from a project under the Bremen (Germany)to Durban partnership.
Where do we do it?
The Enviro Week extends over the all regions of the eThekwini Municipal Area.
What is the impact?
Over 100 local area and community-based activities, with direct participation of over 1500 people, including school children, and a much wider social media reach, activating different spaces in ways that provide venues for specific Environment Education activities, such as the Green Hub at Umgeni Estuary in Durban.
